Mark Van Sumeren has devoted his career to advancing leadership and strategic thinking in the healthcare industry. Over more than four decades, he has shaped organizations from the inside and out — as a consultant, executive, advisor, and board leader.
For ten years, Mark served as a consulting partner at one of today’s “Big Four” professional services firms, advising both for-profit and nonprofit health systems through complex periods of transformation and growth. He then spent eleven years as Chief Strategy and Business Intelligence Officer for a Fortune 300 company, where he helped steer the organization through market disruption and operational reinvention.
For the past twelve years, Mark has served in various board and advisory roles for private equity and venture-backed companies. As non-executive chair, he guided two portfolio companies through successful sale transactions, emphasizing disciplined leadership and mission alignment.
A recognized voice in the healthcare field, Mark was inducted into the Healthcare Supply Chain Leadership Hall of Fame in 2021 by the Bellwether League. He was named a Healthcare Hero by GHX for his analytical reporting work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rooted in Michigan, Mark remains guided by the same principles that define his work — purpose, integrity, and a belief that leadership is ultimately an act of service.
